Planning to go away for six months is a full time job. And I already have one of those.
Things have started to get REALLY busy here as I realise it's about eight weeks until we leave Edinburgh and probably about nine until we arrive in Sri Lanka. Getting vaccinations, organising to see family and friends before we leave, sorting out arrangements for Christmas and New Year, sorting through piles and piles of junk in the flat. I am becoming a bit like a headless chicken.
And that's before I start on the running. Training for the 10k has suffered a bit of a set back as I had a horrible cold/cough thing last week, which meant I couldn't run at all for whole week (I was secretly a bit glad). But today I started again and managed to make it round the meadows and fit in another 10 minutes of running, meaning I can run now for about 20 minutes. That's ten times better than I started! (But still quite a long way to go to reach 10k!)
I am slooowly starting to actually enjoy it now, but am also terrified by the prospect of running for an hour. Especially in such cold weather. Today was the first time that the cold actually hurt my face as I ran round the meadows in the dark. If you haven't already, now's the time to pledge me sponsorship on my online pledge form at www.sponsorformsonline.co.uk/srilanka10k.asp. And thank you so much those of you that have - it's keeping me motivated to persevere!
So, Hepatitis B vaccination tomorrow, and another lap of the meadows. Oh, and also the other full time job. I love it all really!
