Fundraising

Apologies for the lack of updates over the last few weeks - things have been so busy here in Edinburgh with work, sorting out arrangements for going away and seeing family and friends! I can't quite believe that, assuming everything goes to plan, I'll be away in Sri Lanka in just over two months!

I promised some further information on fundraising so here it is.

As I mentioned in my first post, the project is funded by the Scottish Government, through their international development fund. That will cover me for food, accommodation, visa and insurance. The flights, vaccinations and other costs must be provided by me or through fundraising.

So... in order to raise the £600 for the flight, the £400 for vaccinations, and some extra to donate to my charity, I am planning on:

  • Running a 10k in Poole, Dorset on Boxing day (three years to the day since the tsunami)
  • With members of my family, organising a song recital on 28th December in Cerne Abbas, Dorset to be sung by my brother Al (I will post details in a separate entry)
  • Organising a Sri Lankan themed party with Olof at our flat in Edinburgh in December (more details to follow soon)
I have set up an online sponsorship form for the 10k (those of you that know me well will realise what an undertaking running a 10k is for me - three weeks ago I was struggling to run for 2 minutes!). It is:

I hope you will be able to support me in some way over the next few months.

More from the blog soon

Lots of love
